Martens Work Comp Law, LLC is a client-centered Kansas law firm. Attorney Kim R. Martens, the recipient of Martindale-Hubbell’s highest possible AV Preeminent rating for legal ability and ethical standards, focuses his practice on the defense of self-insured and insured employers, third party administrators and insurance carriers, in Kansas workers compensation matters at all levels, including administrative trial and appellate levels.


A 1983 graduate of the University of Kansas School of Law and past President of the Kansas Bar Association, Young Lawyers Section, Mr. Martens is a member of the Defense Research Institute, Kansas Self Insurance Association and the Kansas Association of Defense Counsel.


Mr. Martens serves as Kansas representative to the National Workers Compensation Defense Network (NWCDN) and has served on the NWCDN Executive Board.   Mr. Martens also served as past Employer-Side Chair of the American Bar Association, Labor and Employment Law Section, Workers Compensation Committee (2007-2010).  Mr. Martens was the first Kansas lawyer to be inducted as a Fellow of the College of Workers Compensation Lawyers in 2008 and sat on the College’s Board of Governors from 2011-2012.


Martens Work Comp Law LLC emphasizes proactive, early claim assessment and implementation of creative claim settlement strategies, and where necessary, the defense of litigated Kansas workers compensation matters at all levels, including administrative, trial and Kansas appellate courts. Mr. Martens has served as a frequent speaker to numerous employer, insurance and attorney groups on workers compensation topics. He is a frequent contributor on workers compensation discussion topics on multiple LinkedIn Groups, including Workers Compensation Roundtable and WCLaw Talk by NWCDN. Kim is the author and creator of WC Claim Triage, a unique web app tool available to clients which puts proactive Kansas claim control and claim resolution tools at their fingertips.
