A 1983 graduate of the University of Kansas School of Law and past President of the Kansas Bar Association, Young Lawyers Section, Mr. Martens is a member of the Defense Research Institute, Kansas Self Insurance Association and the Kansas Association of Defense Counsel.
Mr. Martens serves as Kansas representative to the National Workers Compensation Defense Network (NWCDN) and has served on the NWCDN Executive Board. Mr. Martens also served as past Employer-Side Chair of the American Bar Association, Labor and Employment Law Section, Workers Compensation Committee (2007-2010). Mr. Martens was the first Kansas lawyer to be inducted as a Fellow of the College of Workers Compensation Lawyers in 2008 and sat on the College’s Board of Governors from 2011-2012.
